315MOM Magazine

PROJECT TYPE:
Publication Design

ROLE:
Founder & Creative Director

The Task:

Create a high-quality print publication that serves and connects mothers in Central New York while building a recognizable local media brand.

315MOM Magazine was developed to fill a gap in the local media landscape—content created specifically for mothers navigating family life, community resources, and personal identity. The goal was to design a publication that felt elevated, editorial, and trustworthy, while remaining approachable and useful for busy moms.

The magazine needed to balance storytelling, service content, and advertiser integration while maintaining a cohesive visual identity that could grow into a larger brand ecosystem including digital content and community events.

I led the creative vision and execution of the magazine from concept to print, including:

  • Brand identity development

  • Publication design and layout

  • Typography and visual systems

  • Photo direction and image selection

  • Advertising design and integration

  • Print production coordination

I also collaborate with writers, contributors, and local partners to shape each issue’s editorial direction and ensure the content reflects the experiences of modern mothers in our region.

The Process:

  1. Brand Foundation:
I established the visual identity for 315MOM, including typography, color palette, and layout systems that balance warm, friendly approach with editorial sophistication.

  2. Editorial Framework:
Each issue is organized around themes relevant to mothers’ lives— Renewal & Growth, Relationships& Community, and Self-Care& Confidence, Summer & Outdoors. Productivity & Fall Vibes and Giving & Celebrations.

  3. Publication Design:
Using a structured grid and consistent typographic hierarchy, I design spreads that allow long-form storytelling while remaining highly readable. Photography, illustration, and pull quotes are used intentionally to create rhythm and visual interest.

  4. Advertiser Integration:
Advertising placements are designed to feel cohesive with the editorial environment, ensuring the magazine maintains a premium feel while supporting local businesses.

  5. Production & Distribution:
I prepare files for print, coordinate with vendors, and oversee final production to ensure the magazine meets professional publishing standards.

The Outcome:

315MOM Magazine has become a growing platform for connecting mothers and local businesses in Central New York.

The publication has helped establish 315MOM as both a media brand and community resource, expanding into digital content, partnerships, and events. The magazine demonstrates how thoughtful design and editorial storytelling can strengthen community connections while supporting local advertisers.
